They believe their videos will "plant seeds" that JW's will water and God will make grow and therefore a new media center is necessary. Somehow the generations that have come and gone since Jesus was on earth, managed without videos. Suddenly they're a necessity.

Annual Meeting
by sove inis it the annual meeting this weekend?
any insights on "new light" or new releases?.

Family members watched the Annual Meeting via zoom. Photos posted on Instagram show them sitting in front of their screen in meeting attire and floral arrangements (like the memorial) in place. Anthony Morris is on the screen and everyone has their iPad's open to some designated information. They are feeling "privileged".
The word is ....wait for it....Jehovah is providing "spiritual gems" at the right time and his love is "crystal clear". The running theme is "Stay alert spiritually and follow the Channel"
(Around our area the word Channel....sounds very familiar because the one time famous Hollywood actor Linda Evans and her partner JZ Knight started a cult and built a huge lavish compound. I think they originated the whole idea of "channeling" when she was supposedly in contact with a 35,000 year old warrior named Ramtha? They got rich off of it and the compound had horse barns that had wall paper and crystal chandeliers ( What is it about cults and their propensity to isolate themselves on acreage and surround themselves with grandeur? Why are they always so worried? ). This group also liked to predict catastrophes and also admonished their followers to stock up on provisions and be ready. Sound familiar? )

GENDER PRONOUNS
by JohnTron72 injust to put it out there, the whole gender pronouns idea being pushed by the lgbtq+ minorities is just a way to try to hide the sin of homosexuality.
if you can void people talking about your true sexual identity then it seems there is no sin anymore if two they or them of the same sex are together.
example of the coverup: ("i don't identify as either gender"), so the kids i'm raising in a lesbian relationship need not speak of me as a mom or any other female term and we all don't have to feel any stigma attached to the true terms so, any shame we might feel is hidden anyway.

I heard a comedian say that when it comes to gender and sexual orientations there are now so many varieties and stages a person can be in, the word Bisexual is now considered insensitive and politically incorrect because it only includes two of the options and excludes all the others.

Thanks for posting this !
I found the comments on how "love bombing" works ,as well as about why so many JW's have depression, were particularly well put.

eah, lead the self centred life and bring in the prolific procreators from 3rd world countries to keep up the population count.
,I think if you reread my comments, you’ll see I have no problem with people having children. You indicated that those who don’t are leading the self centered life and I disagreed. Having children could be considered just as selfish as you indicate not having them is.

but there is also the deliberate duty bound situation where grandparents, nations even, want their genes, their traditions, their lived on properties, their worth projected into the future,
So once again, having children is just as self centered as choosing not to have children. Everyone else's wants, needs and beliefs are taking precedence over that of the child who will be brought into the world . He/she will be born for the benefit/pleasure of someone else, rather than because someone wanted to generously and unselfishly give the gift of life to another human.

yeah, lead the self centred life and bring in the prolific procreators from 3rd world countries...
How is not having kids any more "self centered" than having kids is ? Seems to me most of the time when someone intentionally brings a child into the world, it's because they wanted/needed a child to further their own personal happiness or to answer some inward calling/urge. I've never heard someone say that they wanted a baby because they wanted to be generous and share the gift of life with someone. Typically (not that it's wrong) they're thinking of their own pleasure or how the baby's life will impact, their own.

There are now more women college graduates than men in the US. Women with college degrees don’t like to marry men without degrees.
Remember...woeful predictions sell advertising. If this is in fact true, these ladies will soon get over themselves once the right guy comes along. Most women I've met admire men who can actually do something tangible and practical. Most college graduates will tell you that a diploma isn't all it's cracked up to be and not having a degree doesn't mean a person is ignorant.

Anyone have your local cong. give out papers to say what you can afford to give the cult?
by mickbobcat inback in the late 80s i can remember my local cong.
pass around a paper that had a place for head of house hold name and how much they can afford to give every month for one year.
but i remember the elders said they needed to know what they can bank on to know what they can afford to borrow to remodel ect.

Luke 14:28
For which one of you, when he wants to build a tower, does not first sit down and calculate the cost to see if he has enough to complete it?Yes...we had to do that back in the day. As per usual they trotted out the scripture above as a way to make it all seem as if God was involved in whatever they wanted the money for.
There's a scripture for every occasion if you're creative enough.
Many congregation members feather spat over this.
Diogenesister: Feather Spat (past tense of spitting feathers) means they were very agitated or took exception so much to the point that all that came out of their mouths was the spitting and sputtering sounds one would make if they were trying to rid themselves of feathers stuck in their mouths or stuck to their wet lips.
"He was so mad he was spitting feathers ( also cotton or wood chips)"

This is odd on and infuriating on so many levels. Not only was he ok doing this to a little child, he was ok doing so in a car full of people and he was ok telling you about it. Why would he think you'd be someone he could tell? This tells me that this person hasn't got a normal conscience or sense of shame. Hopefully he was exaggerating or hopefully for the children he's encountered since then, this was an isolated incident, but I doubt it was.
I find it disturbing that given your lack of action, you were even able to relate this story publicly. Even at 17, (especially as a JW) I'd have been compelled to tell someone what he did. Who knows what irreparable damage he's done to other little ones since then. I can be understanding about this to a point but mostly, I don't know why you'd bring this up if you were going to make excuses for him or weren't going to do anything about it. I'm not sure if you really comprehend what a big of a deal this is in terms of what his history might have been, his position as a JW, what he may have covered up or have done to other children himself.
I like Simon's idea, find him and tell him what you remember. If it were me, I'd tell him that the JW child abuse scandal has brought this memory back to you and you aren't sure where to go with it . Tell him you want to get further clarification on the matter and want to know what's going on with him. At the very least, if he has in fact continued on this way, he'd get the message that someone knows and is watching.
If I found out anyone did something like this to my child or one of my little granddaughters, I'd end up in prison for manslaughter.
